Greek island beaches of Skopelos island Greece
On this page I will present you the Greek island beaches of Skopelos in the order you find them on the road starting from Skopelos town. If you worked through the page of Skopelos villages, you already know, that there is basically one main street bringing you along the coastline from the South West where you find Skopelos town, until up to Glossa and Loutraki in the North West.
For our last beach, Perivoliou, we are going to head a little bit further up than this, though. As the first of the Skopelos beaches and closest to the main town, let us start our tour to Greek island beaches, discovering Stafylos.
STAFYLOS beach

Stafylos beach is easy to reach, after about 5km from the main town you can even go by bus, there is a regular service all year.
The beach is accessed via a small road of some hundred meters, a wooden staircase brings you down to the long stretched, mostly shingle beach. Throughout the summer season sun beds are available here.
If you go until the end of the bay, with very little effort you can climb the small hill and reach VELANIO, the unofficial nudist beach. Quite a nice setting, clear waters, and being a bit steeper than Stafylos, ideal for swimming. We continue our road until just before Agnondas we take a left turn to...
AMARANTOS beaches The waters around these small and smallest inlets sparkle in incredible blue and green shades. Quite some stumbling and a bit of climbing is involved to find your right spot, everything is left in its natural condition.
Get comfortable on one of the bleached out cliffs just in front of the pine trees about to grow into the sea. Here we come many times for a quick swim in our midday break. Amarantos is one of the locations chosen for some scenes in the Mamma Mia movie, that has been filmed here. In the musical, they called Skopelos the island of "Kalokairi".

AGNONDAS beach The next stop for our Greek island beaches tour is Agnondas. Agnondas beach enjoys a great setting right in front of the small fishing village and secondary port for Skopelos town. It is a sheltered bay, and during high winds, when the harbor in Skopelos town gets too dangerous, the ships land here.
From Skopelos town you reach this beach in about 10 minutes by car, the bus operates regularly here as well. Agnondas is one of the natural bays that offer popular fish tavernas and incredible sun sets. You might like to combine these two assets while dinner is served directly on the beautiful shingle beach.

LIMNONARI beach Just some hundred meters further along our main road you might want to visit Limnonari beach. Along sharp cliffs a short road brings you from the main road down to the water; open your eyes here and watch the emerald and jade shades of the water in this incredible bay!
Limnonari has a special status, as it is mostly sandy on an island that offers mainly shingle beaches. As of a slippery rock that runs along a big part of the beach, you will sometimes watch bathers sliding into the refreshing water. At the two tavernas everyone can find his favorite Greek lunch.

PANORMOS beach Meanwhile we were driving already more than 12 km from Skopelos town. Panormos is one of the Greek island beaches that stretches along the rim of an impressing bay, conveniently supplied with several tavernas and mini markets.
Panormos beach has very easy access and is ideal for families, as access is extremely convenient. In Panormos village there is enough parking available throughout the village, and the public bus has a station here.
All you need for a day in the sun, you can find in the village of Panormos along the road. At the far end of the beach you can rent small motor boats.

MILIA beach Our next station is Milia beach. It is the favorite beach of many, as space seems endless here. Milia is one of the Greek island beaches, that could easily be used for a gathering for games in the sand or a party without disturbing anyone. A long stretched and quite broad beach to enjoy! Most remarkable are some sharp white rocks rising out of the sea like pinnacles at the start of Milia.
In some sections sun beds are offered, there is a laid-back beach bar to find for coffee and cold drinks, and really great food with friendly service is available in a taverna right behind the beach. Parking is available.

KASTANI beach Our ride to Greek island beaches brings us to Kastani beach after about one kilometer after Milia. Being one of the few sandy beaches of Skopelos, several scenes from
Mamma Mia The Movie
have been filmed here.
From the main road a short dirt track leads down to the sea, parking might be a bit challenging here in peak season from mid July to mid August, as some drivers are not aware how much space other cars need to turn at the end to drive up again. To park as high up close to the road is a good advise, the road is very short anyway.
This beach has got a really good beach bar, it is worth checking it out!
Kastani is a beautiful bay with white washed cliffs and pine woods until the sea. Great motives for your own Greek island pictures are easy to find here.

ELIOS and HOVOLOS beach Our trip around the island brings us to Elios or Neo Klima next. When we have some spare hours, we go there for a swim and great Mediterranean food.
Elios town beach is basic, but the setting convenient with the beautiful village in the back, parking is easy, and there are showers to wash the salty water off.
For the ones who prefer a quiet setting and don't mind a slightly challenging access along the coast line with the possibility of getting wet feet, will just fall in love with Hovolos beach. Some call it the best beach of the island.

ARMENOPETRA beach For Armenopetra you will take a serpentine track that leads you off the main road shortly after you passed Elios. Being one of the less frequented beaches, it is likely to enjoy total privacy. No facilities are offered, but in peak season there are sun beds.

PERIVOLIOU beach There is one more beach I would like to introduce to you, the beach of Perivoliou. Do not go on a windy day, the area is quite unprotectd.
Just before you get to Glossa town in the North West, you take a turn to the right where a sign states the way to Perivoliou. From this sign it might take you another 20 minutes by car to get there, a scenic tour. When you get there, though, I believe you will say that it was worth the afford. Just look at the last Greek island picture:

I hope, you enjoyed the tour to our Greek island beaches and will pass by soon again!
